Our Kids
Since 2004, Slam Dunk for Diabetes camps have been a place where kids with Type 1 and Type 2 can play basketball, laugh and share stories. They can also learn about managing their health through food, insulin, exercise and best of all – hanging out with kids who are just like them.
Kids ages 6 to 18 attend three to four-day, half-day camps across Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Each day, they’re encouraged to build their confidence, make new friends and learn some new skills on the court. That’s what Slam Dunk camp is all about.
Our Camps
To date, more than a thousand kids with diabetes have participated in 60 camps in 10 cities and 5 states . Kids are at their best when they can focus on playing basketball, learn to manage their diabetes and make new friends. They feel motivated. More than that, they feel normal.
Our Locations
Slam Dunk Kids have come from the south side of Chicago to the north shore and as far away as Croatia.
